In an interview with Fox News Channel’s Jeanine Pirro on Saturday, Eric Trump said he was not impressed by what he’d seen at last week’s 2020 Democratic debates. He slammed the candidates for promising to do more for illegal aliens than for the people of the United States, and he predicted that their pandering to migrants would end up costing them in next year’s election.
“When they’re talking about giving illegal immigrants, people who came to this country illegally, paying for everything for everybody, not having any real proposals on how it’s actually going to get paid for, how it’s going to get funded, they’re not taking care of the citizens of their own country,” the president’s son said. “That’s a real problem and I think it’s going to backfire on them.”
For anyone who hasn’t been paying close attention to the leftward drift of the Democratic Party over the last few years, those debates had to come as a nasty shock. If it is still DNC strategy to go and win back those midwestern states that Trump turned red in 2016, it’s hard to imagine how performances like these will help them accomplish that. On the first night, you had candidates speaking gratuitously in Spanish just to prove how much they adore illegal immigrants, on the next night. You had nearly everyone on Thursday pledging to open up government-funded healthcare to illegal aliens.
“The real problem is we shouldn’t have 11 million undocumented people with no pathway to citizenship,” argued Pete Buttigieg on the debate stage. “It makes no sense. The American people agree on what to do. This is a crazy thing. If leadership consists of forming a consensus around a divisive issue, this White House divided us around a consensus issue. The American people want a pathway to citizenship and protections for Dreamers.”
What the American people want is to build a wall across the southern border to keep illegal immigrants out of this country. You know how we know that? Because Trump won, and this was his signature issue. So you can take all the polls you want with your liberal media methodology, but the proof is in the pudding. Trump is in the White House and Hillary Clinton isn’t. That’s as clear a read as you can get on what the American people want when it comes to illegal immigration.
“The reality is you have people in this country that need help,” Eric said. “You also have health care costs in this country which have gone up because ObamaCare is absolutely a disaster. You can take that money, you can allocate it in a different way, but for them to come out and say, ‘Listen, we’re going to give this free to this person, we’re going to give this free, we’re going to let everybody get driver’s licenses – Bill de Blasio in this state alone wants to have every person have — every illegal immigrant to have — a driver’s license. Do they now get to vote?”
Oh, you’d better believe that’s coming. Hopefully, before it does, the citizens of this country will make it clear – again – in 2020 about which constituency they want represented in Washington: Themselves…or people who shouldn’t even be here in the first place.
