Nicolle Wallace Should Be Fired for Her “Extermination” Slander
Nicolle Wallace, MSNBC host, one-time Republican, and devoted hater of all things Trump, should be fired for her latest, reprehensible remarks about President Donald Trump. Not only because they are factually incorrect (also known as lies), but because they are outlandishly inflammatory at a time when we need our media personalities to tone down the rhetoric and restore some sense of reason to our national discourse. In a week where more than thirty people were killed by mass shooters, the last thing we need is a cable news host telling viewers that Trump called for a racial holocaust.
But that’s exactly what Wallace did on her Monday afternoon program.
Wallace was talking to Raul Reyes, who was already ramping up into a racially-fueled tirade against the president.
“In words and actions throughout his presidency, he’s basically declared open-season on Latinos because we are one of his favorite targets,” lied Reyes. “And it’s not just the language he used, you mentioned calling Mexicans drug dealers and rapists when he came down the escalator. That was day one. Then it escalated into attacks on Latino journalists. It escalated into attacks on the so-called, in his words, Mexican judge. Then ramped it up again to the invasion, warning people of a caravan and words like infestation. What do you do with an infestation? With an infestation, the natural conclusion is attempt an extermination.”
At that point, a responsible journalist – or really, just a responsible TV personality of any kind – would have paused the interview, explained to viewers that Trump had made no such remarks about the Latino community, and admonished Reyes for his reckless language.
Instead, she piled on.
“What do you do when, certainly, the last Republican president had 44% of Latino voters? So politically powerful inside the last Republican administration,” Wallace said. “President Obama used the power of the presidency to try to pass comprehensive immigration reform, with the Latino community, Latino leaders, at the table. You now have a president, as you said, talking about exterminating Latinos.”
This wouldn’t fly at Fox News. We’re not even sure you could get away with this idiocy on CNN, the official home for idiots. But over at NBC, hey, it’s apparently just fine. This is a network, mind you, that felt it needed to distance itself from Mario Lopez because the “Extra” host dared to question whether three-year-olds should be deciding to change genders. But if one of their cable news hosts wants to tell the country that President Trump is “talking about exterminating Latinos”? Why not? What possible harm could come of that?
“I misspoke about Trump calling for an extermination of Latinos. My mistake was unintentional and I’m sorry,” Wallace said on Twitter the next day. “Trump’s constant assault on people of color and his use of the word ‘invasion’ to describe the flow of immigrants is intentional and constant.”
That’s not an apology, and it’s not even close to good enough. Wallace should be fired immediately, and MSNBC should rid itself of hateful, inflammatory lies about the president.
