At Long Last, Glenn Beck Dons the MAGA Hat
Of all the conservative NeverTrumpers who emerged during The Donald’s meteoric rise to the presidency, few of them took their rhetoric against Trump as far as former Tea Party darling Glenn Beck. The radio superstar said Trump was a “pathological liar, possibly a sociopath, and a vengeful, bitter man.” He devoted a segment of his show to dipping his face in crushed Cheetos to simulate Trump’s orange-tinted skin, and he invited a fiction writer on his show to speculate about the day a “patriot” might “remove Trump from office” using means outside our electoral political system. Beck watched his ratings sink and his Blaze website deteriorate as Trump won the presidency and the conservative opposition to him grew smaller and smaller and more and more insignificant.
But now, apparently, he’s ready to come around.
Beck was so disgusted with the mainstream media lie that told Americans that Trump had referred to all illegal immigrants as “animals” last week that he said it had driven him to don the red hat he always swore he would never wear.
“Here’s why I’m predicting a 2020 win. When I saw yesterday how the press was all reporting the same damn story — that Donald Trump was calling MS-13 gang members (they left that out of the story) ‘animals’ — they were spinning it as if he was saying that about all immigrants. I had enough. I’ve had enough,” Beck said on his program Friday.
After putting on the Make America Great Again cap, Beck continued: “Media, if you can get me, Glenn Beck, to do this – if you can drive me to the point where I say, you know, I’ve had enough, I’ll vote for him in 2020. Gladly, I’ll vote for him in 2020. And not really even on his record, which we’ll talk about here in a second, is pretty damn amazing. But if you can drive me to the point to where I’ll wear one of these stupid red hats, I’m telling you you’re making a gigantic mistake — and I welcome it.”
We don’t listen to enough Glenn Beck these days to really know if he’s fully on board the Trump Train or if this was just his way of sticking it to the liberal media. Frankly, we’re not sure we care anymore. Beck was a voice of sanity during the insane Obama years, and he’s made us laugh a time or two, but he let us down big time during the election. Now we have a president who, despite all the naysayers, is without a doubt the greatest one we’ve had since The Gipper, and the NeverTrump crowd wants a seat on the party bus all of a sudden.
Well, that’s fine – the more, the merrier. Just don’t expect us to do any cartwheels.
