Berlin Terrorist Should Not Have Been in the Country
Two days after a terrorist used a semi to crash through a Christmas market in Berlin, German authorities have begun hunting for the man responsible for the attack. After an early arrest turned out to be a red herring, law enforcement agencies turned their attention to a suspect from Tunisia whose documents were found inside the truck.
On Wednesday, German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere announced that a manhunt was in progress for the unnamed terrorist who killed 12 people and injured another 48 on Monday evening. In a press conference, de Maiziere refused to give any further details about the man’s identity, assuring the press that “success counts, not speed or speculation.”
That hasn’t kept the German media from reporting what they have learned about the Tunisian. The name “Anis A.” has been bandied about, but he has reportedly been using a number of aliases since applying for German asylum. The fact that Angela Merkel’s government apparently granted the individual some form of temporary legal status will only intensify the criticism of her open-door immigration policies.
The New York Times reported that the man came into Germany from Italy:
The Tunisian man was recorded as having entered Italy in 2012. He traveled to Germany in July 2015 and applied for asylum in April this year, receiving papers that allowed him to stay temporarily. He lived for a time in housing designated for asylum seekers in the city of Emmerich am Rhein, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany’s most populous state, and in Berlin.
In August, he was arrested in the southern city of Friedrichshafen with a fake Italian document and released a short while later, according to Süddeutsche Zeitung.
So. Mistake one: Letting the dude into the country. Mistake two: Letting him stay in the country (and in public housing, no less!) after he was arrested. The dangerous idiocy of Merkel’s liberalism has been exposed yet again.
Now we ask the question once again: How many more people have to be slaughtered by these Islamic radicals before the Western world wakes up? While liberal hearts are bleeding for the plight of Muslim refugees, real blood is being spilled in the streets of Berlin, Brussels, Paris, Nice, Orlando, Boston, San Bernardino, and New York City. The bill for this foolishness is being paid not by the politicians but by innocent citizens who have been betrayed by their own governments.
