Bernie Sanders, One Percenter, Suddenly Thinks It’s Fine to Be Rich
Well, they say money changes a man, and apparently that’s true. It certainly is in the case of Sen. Bernie Sanders, who built a socialist movement in 2016 that nearly destroyed Hillary Clinton’s quest for the Democratic nomination.
In those days, Sanders used every speech, every interview, and every tweet to crusade against the so-called “One Percent” – the millionaires and billionaires whose extraordinary wealth was somehow to blame for the rest of the country living in poverty. His populist stance made him a living saint to millions of young liberals who suddenly had a man through which to channel their Occupy Wall Street frustrations.
But what happens when that same man suddenly becomes part of the exclusive club he’s been railing against all his life?
Well, as far as his message, nothing has changed as far as we can tell. He’s still out there calling for universal free healthcare, democratic socialism, and chanting “Death to the 1%!” The only difference is that now he has to carve out some time to get really defensive about his newfound wealth.
“I didn’t know that it was a crime to write a good book which turns out to be a bestseller,” Sanders said in Indiana this week. “My view has always been that we need a progressive tax system which demands that the wealthiest people in this country finally start paying their fair share of taxes. If I make a lot of money, you make a lot of money, that is what I believe. So again, I don’t apologize for writing a book that was number three on the New York Times bestseller, translated into five or six languages and that’s that.”
But we really loved the way he put it in a recent interview.
“I wrote a best-selling book,” he said. “If you write a best-selling book, you can be a millionaire, too.”
We’re quite sure that Bernie Sanders didn’t mean to accidentally give away the secret to success in America, but that’s what he did. If you [do what successful people have done], you can [duplicate that success for yourself.] That’s the whole game! The information is all out there in books, interviews, movies, and every other medium you could ask for. If you want to be successful, study successful people and you will soon know exactly how to do it. You may not write a best-selling book or develop a killer app, but you have your own unique talents and interests. That’s what the American dream IS. And no matter what any liberal says, it’s not dead. If it is alive in YOU, it’s alive.
It’s a shame that people like Bernie Sanders, who know where the path to success really lies, keep trying to give people excuses to fail and scapegoats to blame. Maybe he really believes he’s helping people. Unfortunately, he’s doing just the opposite.
