BIAS: Clinton Aides Lied to FBI With Impunity…But Not Michael Flynn?
As President Trump has noted on Twitter, the idea of the Justice Department charging Michael Flynn with the crime of lying to FBI agents is undermined by the fact that at least two of Hillary Clinton’s top aides did the same thing…and went completely unpunished for their deception. Both Cheryl Mills and Huma Abedin have been accused of making false statements to the FBI about what they knew regarding their boss’s private email server, but the FBI never made any attempt to hold them accountable for their obstruction. Strange, then, that they would turn around and make Michael Flynn pay for the exact same crime.
Strange, that is, until you realize who conducted all three interviews…
News broke this week that it was Peter Strzok, the FBI agent who was removed from Robert Mueller’s team this summer for sending anti-Trump text messages to his girlfriend, who interviewed Mills, Abedin, and, you guessed it, Flynn. Not only does Strzok’s very involvement in both of these high-profile cases raise serious questions as to the validity of the process, his integral role in these interviews makes it impossible to believe that justice was served. Furthermore, the disparity between the punishment coming to Flynn and the absence of punishment for Mills and Abedin is an outrage that should, by all rights, lead to Mueller’s removal as Special Counsel.
According to publicly-released summaries of the interviews that Strzok and other FBI agents conducted with Mills and Abedin, the two Clinton associates denied knowing that Hillary was using an off-the-books private server.
“Mills did not learn Clinton was using a private server until after Clinton’s tenure,” notes from the April 2016 interview read. “Mills stated she was not even sure she knew what a server was at the time.”
“Abedin did not know that Clinton had a private server until about a year and a half ago when it became public knowledge,” reads the notes from Huma’s interview.
These denials were caught out as the lies that they are when emails were released showing that both Mills and Abedin were well aware of Clinton’s private server – AT the TIME.
So they lied. They lied to protect themselves and their friend, Hillary Rodham Clinton. They lied to cover up a crime. They lied and, by all accounts, they should have been charged with obstructing the investigation. They were not. In fact, they weren’t even given so much as a slap on the wrist.
In the meantime, Flynn has been charged with the exact same crime in a spurious attempt to flip him against the President of the United States. Think about that tactic as you will, it is certainly indicative of an investigation much more concerned with getting a conviction than the Hillary Clinton investigation was. And since the same anti-Trump FBI agent was central to both cases, it is a clear sign that both of these investigations have been hopelessly mired in political agendas that have nothing to do with the rule of law.
