Biden is Too Dumb to Understand Why Trump Paused Immigration

One of two things is true: Either presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden is too dumb to figure out why President Trump put a temporary moratorium on immigration to the U.S., or he’s deliberately lying to the American people about the ban. Under ordinary circumstances, we would assume that a major party’s candidate for the presidency is smart enough to understand something this simple, but we’re talking about Biden here. Sometimes we wonder if the guy even realizes he’s running for president.

Anyway, here’s what Biden said in a statement regarding the 60-day suspension on immigration: “Rather than execute a swift and aggressive effort to ramp up testing, Donald Trump is tweeting incendiary rhetoric about immigrants in the hopes that he can distract everyone from the core truth: he’s moved too slowly to contain this virus, and we are all paying the price for it.”

Trump, of course, tweeted no such rhetoric. He did not go on social media and blame the coronavirus on immigrants (although…), and he didn’t suggest that this 60-day ban was meant to stop the spread of the virus in the first place. This is a response, not to infection rates, but to the 22 million+ Americans who have found themselves out of work in the last month. What, we’re going to shuttle in thousands of foreign workers to snap those jobs up instead of giving first dibs to the people who live here? What possible sense would that make.

Now granted, the ban doesn’t go nearly far enough. By allowing the guest worker program to continue, Trump is doing the U.S. Chamber of Commerce an enormous favor. But still, just shutting off the supply of green cards for two months is a step in the right direction, and if Biden is opposed to it, then it tells you everything you need to know about where his loyalties lie.

“It is irrational to refuse to focus the full force of the presidency on producing and distributing the number of tests we need to determine whether all people entering the U.S. — regardless of citizenship status — are carrying COVID-19, and to successfully contain the virus,” Biden said. “That’s one of the most glaring failures of this president’s response and sending inflammatory tweets to try to hide it helps no one.”

This is just a new level when it comes to either deception or ignorance. Either way, it does not speak well of the man who wants to take Trump’s job.
