Blackface (Gasp!): Liberals Ignore the Point Once Again
When Mark Burns – prominent black pastor and loyal Donald Trump supporter – saw Hillary Clinton’s latest commercial last week, he couldn’t refrain from speaking his mind. In a statement released through the Trump campaign, Burns said that Hillary had sunk to a “disgusting new low” by linking the Republican nominee to the Ku Klux Klan and other white supremacists.
“This type of rhetoric and repulsive advertising is revolting and completely beyond the pale,” Burns said. “I call on Hillary Clinton to disavow this video and her campaign for this sickening act that has no place in our world.”
Hillary Clinton chose not to disavow the video, as you might have predicted, and Burns’s rage continued to grow, spilling out into a new week. On Monday, he tweeted a picture of Clinton in blackface, holding an anti-police protest sign and wearing a t-shirt that says “No hot sauce, no peace.” In the cartoon, Clinton is saying, “I ain’t no ways tired of pandering to African-Americans.”
Burns, playing Hillary, added his own message: “Black Americans, THANK YOU FOR YOUR VOTES and letting me use you again…See you again in 4 years.”
Hilarious? Yes. Because it’s true.
But naturally, people took offense and Burns had to later delete the tweet and issue an apology.
“The tweet was not designed to anger or stir up the pot like it did,” the pastor said.
Well, don’t worry yourself too much about it, Pastor Burns. Liberals don’t need a reason to get angry and stirred up; they’ll take anything they find and turn it into an outrage. They especially love it when they come across something like this, where they can just say “BLACKFACE BAD” and not have to think about anything else. This is why they can’t understand why anyone in America (other than white racists) would support Donald Trump. They hear “Mexico is sending rapists,” “anchor babies,” and the rest of it, and they don’t hear anything else.
That keeps them happy, because it means they don’t actually have to have a conversation about the issues. In this instance, they can really limit the amount of time they spend on the central question: Do Democrats really serve the best interests of the African American community? Instead, they can spend all of their energy demonizing Pastor Burns, talking to experts about the history of blackface, and mocking Trump.
None of that will help black Americans.
But then, neither will Hillary Clinton.
