Caravan Migrants to Trump: Give Us $50,000 Each to Go Away!
Say what you will about the caravans filled with Central American immigrants at the border, but they sure do have a lot of nerve. For people whose countries are a wreck, whose skills are bordering on the nonexistent, whose potential contributions to the United States are negative at best, and who have no legal claim whatsoever on the country they wish to enter, they really think they are in the driver’s seat. We’re not sure if they’re collectively delusional, sick and tired to the point of confusion, or playing some kind of political game at the border. But whatever their damage might be, this headline got a pretty hearty laugh out of us this morning.
According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, a group of caravan migrants marked up to the U.S. Consulate in Tijuana on Tuesday with a list of demands. The idea that any of these migrants have a platform on which they can make demands to the United States is laughable in and of itself, but this one is a real doozy: The migrants say that the Trump administration has two choices – let them into the country or pay them $50,000 a piece to send them away!
Wow.
Perhaps when Barack “I Gladly Negotiate With Terrorists” Obama was in office, this offer would have been taken seriously. Oh who are we kidding, Obama would have already marched these caravan migrants into the United States, set them up with nice Ohio homes, and set to work on another executive amnesty plan to put them on the road to citizenship.
In any event, there’s a new sheriff in town, and these migrants – or at least their organizers – must surely know that this kind of extortion is a non-starter. Therefore, we can only assume that this is some kind of political signal to their left-wing allies in the States – some way to grab some more news coverage and turn the tide of American opinion towards them. You might think that’s a really stupid way to spread your propaganda, but then you might remember the Black Lives Matter protests from a couple of years ago. They used the same tactics, and quite effectively, on college campuses across the nation.
Now, if you ask us what those protests ever actually accomplished for African-Americans, we’d have to admit that we aren’t sure. But they certainly were popular among a certain demographic. And by “certain demographic,” we mean bleeding-heart left-wing millennials, not blacks.
We’re sure those same millennials are enthralled with the heroes of the caravan.
