Dem AG Shrugs Off Burning Cities: “That’s How Forests Grow!”
Well, you’ve gotta hand it to look-on-the-bright-side Democrats like Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey. It takes a pretty positive attitude to find the silver lining in the burning, looting, and destruction of American cities, but she managed to do it in a speech to the Boston Chamber of Commerce this week. Rather than condemn the rioters and call for an end to the chaos, Healey said that everyone should just take a step back and appreciate this beautiful moment of history.
“Yes, America is burning, but that’s how forests grow,” Healey said.
She later took to Twitter to reiterate her message: “Today in my address to the @bostonchamber, I spoke about how we must seize the opportunity we have right now to build anew in ways that rid us of the institutionalized racism that’s led to America burning today.”
Yeah, but what if…what if there’s actually no such thing as institutionalized racism?
Oh, how silly of us to even dream up such a question.
In a statement, Republican Attorneys General Association chairman Jeff Landry denounced Healey’s remarks and called on her to apologize for her divisive and idiotic message.
“Maura Healey’s inflammatory rhetoric is part of the problem, not a solution,” Landry said. “An AG is elected to uphold the rule of law and protect life and property, not to violate their oath and incite additional violence by inflaming emotions and condoning lawlessness. AG Healey has an obligation to quell fear, not incite further damage and destruction.”
Landry went on to send a different message: A warning to those who would commit violence and destruction in the name of social justice.
“The wrongful death of any innocent life is a tragedy. That includes George Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery, and now the numerous law enforcement officers and business owners who have been killed or assaulted as a result of these riots and domestic terrorism. Criminal elements have infiltrated peaceful protests, and those individuals breaking the law must be held accountable,” he said.
As sickening as it has been to watch these criminals go on a nearly-unimpeded path of destruction for the last week, it has been even more disgusting to see just how cowardly the reaction from Democrats has been. Even President Obama had more backbone than this when it came to the unrest in Baltimore and Ferguson. Today’s Democrats seem to be laboring under the belief that any condemnation – no matter how slight – of even a small minority of black Americans is tantamount to party betrayal.
And these folks really think we should put them back in the White House?
