Democrats Actually Complaining About Being Left Out of al-Baghdadi Decision
If House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff had a lick of humility or sense about them, they would have kept their mouths clamped shut this weekend. If they couldn’t bring themselves to praise for President Trump and our special forces, they should have stayed as far away from the microphones as possible. Instead, they actually had the audacity to go to the media and complain that Trump left them out of the loop on the raid that killed ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi!
Like, really?
“The House must be briefed on this raid, which the Russians but not top congressional leadership were notified of in advance, and on the administration’s overall strategy in the region,” Pelosi said in an indignant statement on Sunday. “Our military and allies deserve strong, smart and strategic leadership from Washington.”
Well, they have that. Bringing you into the mix won’t improve the situation, believe us.
“In terms of notifying the Gang of Eight, that wasn’t done,” Schiff whined on ABC’s Sunday morning news show. He insisted that Trump had made a “mistake” by not bringing top congressional Democrats into the decision for their advice and counsel.
Do we really need to state the obvious? Do we, Adam? Do we, Nancy?
The fact of the matter is that you guys are so obsessed with hating this president, pandering to your base, and going through this ludicrously unconstitutional impeachment inquiry that you clearly have no time or energy left over for little matters like…national security. So why, under these circumstances, would Trump pick up the phone and talk to you? What purpose would it serve? You’d probably just leak it to The New York Times and put our troops in jeopardy. Or you’d find a way to fold it in to your impeachment charges.
What ARE those charges, anyway? Have any of you come up with that yet? Uh-huh, didn’t think so.
In an interview with Fox News’s Maria Bartiromo this weekend, Rep. John Ratcliffe (R-TX), who sits on Schiff’s Intelligence Committee, lamented that the chairman’s impeachment focus has left little time for matters of national defense.
“Unfortunately, the Intelligence Committee that I serve on hasn’t been spending a whole lot of time on these issues. We’ve been caught up in Adam Schiff’s secret impeachment inquiry, so we haven’t had a briefing on these issues,” Ratcliffe said. “All I can remember is one ambassador after another that I’ve never heard of before. That’s where we’ve been spending our time, unfortunately.”
In other words, this outlandish inquiry is not only harming our democracy, it’s distracting our Congress from the very business they’re supposed to be doing on behalf of the voters. And now they have the nerve to complain that they’re being left out of the loop?
Unreal.
