Democrats are Attaching “Radical” Riders to House Immigration Bill

Proving yet again that they have absolutely no interest whatsoever in solving the humanitarian crisis at the border, House Democrats are bogging down immigration bill negotiations by attaching “very extreme and very radical” riders to the legislation, Republican sources told Fox News on Wednesday. According to one such source, these riders would “functionally nullify federal immigration law.”

President Trump requested $4.5 billion in May to help fund agencies combating the escalating humanitarian crisis at the southern border, but the request has been bogged down by negotiations.

But amid negotiations over the latest border bill, a source familiar with the talks told Fox News that riders, submitted in writing by House Democrats, include one that would stop border agents from conducting any asylum interviews. Another controversial rider, according to two GOP sources, would prevent the funds from being used by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to share information on sponsors of child migrants, potential sponsors or their households with DHS.

Republicans say the effect would be to prevent HHS from sharing information about child smugglers and traffickers present in the U.S. with the department responsible for enforcing immigration law.

That’s only the tip of the iceberg. The worst of these riders is a clause that would force the federal government to tell illegal aliens that they can bring an unaccompanied minor into the U.S., sponsor them, and escape any repercussions for their own illegal status. Indeed, the rider would also demand that the child be delivered back to them without delay.

“So we’d not only be protecting the child smuggling loop, we’d be advertising the child smuggling loop to illegal aliens throughout the United States who would in turn then be able to have confidence they could pay a smuggler in a transnational criminal organization to smuggle a child into the country that we would then tell them we would deliver to them regardless of the law breaking involved,” the source told Fox News.

It is clear at this point that it is a fruitless, hopeless effort to include Democrats in any reasonable effort to pass immigration legislation. They are much more interested in using this crisis as a political weapon than they are in fixing the border. We’ll go as far as to say they don’t WANT to fix the border. They want these immigrants streaming in, and they want them released into the wilds of America where they can then be counted in the next Census. Knowing they will flock to hard-blue strongholds that have sanctuary laws in place, Democrats are counting on those immigrants to boost their congressional representation and max out their federal assistance dollars.

In a country with a responsible news media, the Democrats’ anti-American ploy would be obvious to everyone. Unfortunately, that’s the one thing we don’t have.
