Democrats Ready to Spring the Trap They’ve Set for President Trump

President Trump is likely under strict legal advice to limit what he says publicly about the phony Russia investigation, but he couldn’t help himself after a Washington Post article confirmed that Special Counsel Robert Mueller was personally investigating him for obstruction of justice. On Thursday morning, an irate Trump lashed out at the transparent attempt to remove him from office.

“They made up a phony collusion with the Russians story, found zero proof, so now they go for obstruction of justice on the phony story,” Trump wrote. “Nice.”

He followed that up with another tweet laying bare his thoughts about Mueller’s inquiry.

“You are witnessing the single greatest WITCH HUNT in American political history – led by some very bad and conflicted people!” he said.

According to the Post’s sources, both Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats and NSA Director Mike Rogers have agreed to be interviewed by Mueller’s investigatory team in the coming days. Mueller’s team is reportedly looking into a meeting the president had with Coats and Rogers where he asked them to pull James Comey off the Flynn case or at least go to the public and confirm that there was no evidence to back up the Russian collusion allegations. Coats and Rogers reportedly refused to do either. Last week, they testified that the White House had not pressured them to bring the investigation to an end.

“This Russian investigation has gone nowhere, so they’re coming up with new charges,” said Jay Sekulow, a lawyer for the president, in an interview with Fox’s Sean Hannity. “If this is true that five individuals inside of the United States government, whether it was the FBI or the Special Counsel’s office — wherever it came from — leaked information about the president of the United States to the Washington Post, information about a supposed investigation, that is a crime.”

This is getting out of hand. Trump fires the FBI Director for refusing to clear his name publicly and now he’s personally under investigation for obstruction of justice? What? This basically gives the Democrats a license to throw whatever ridiculous charges they want against a sitting Republican president. And if he dares to intervene and say, “Look, this is wrong and it’s stalling the agenda that the American people voted for,” they can just charge him with the real crime of obstruction. It’s a trap, and they’ve been setting Trump up for this since November 8.

We’ll see what happens, but if the elites in Washington thought that the 2016 election was the big “Rage against D.C.,” they won’t know what hit them when they throw out the rightfully-elected president. In the next two elections, conservatives and angry Americans from coast to coast may just have to clean Congress from top the bottom and start fresh. Or, better yet, draw together a convention of states and take matters into our own hands. Because this – whatever this is – cannot be allowed to stand.
