DeSantis Makes Disney’s Problems Even WORSE!
(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – Following the Florida House of Representatives approval of a state takeover of Disney World, the board appointed for the task by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis appears to be heading towards a legal fight against Disney World.
A spokesperson for the governor’s office, Taryn Fenske, pointed out that the governor’s executive office was aware of the corporation’s “last-ditch efforts to execute contracts just before ratifying the new law that transfers rights and authorities from the former Reedy Creek Improvement District to Disney.”
On Feb. 8, the same day that the Florida House passed legislation that would bring Disney’s land under government control, there was also a developer agreement found that would make the Reedy Creek Improvement District transfer a lot of its power to the corporation for the next three decades.
The governor had not been informed about the agreement that the former board had made before agreeing to the creation of the new district.
Fenske pointed out that according to an initial review, “these agreements may have significant legal infirmities that would render the contracts void as a matter of law.” She proceeded to announce the “new governor-appointed board retained multiple financial and legal firms to conduct audits and investigate Disney’s past behavior.”
These moves did not become widely known until a Wednesday meeting between the Central Florida Tourism Oversight Board, formerly known as the Reedy Creek Special District. One of the board members, Brian Aungst Jr., stated that he could not “think of a more naked attempt to circumvent the will of the voters, the will of the Florida Legislature, and the will of the governor.”
