Officials at the Democratic National Committee apparently feel they must still do more to make sure Bernie Sanders’ scorned supporters shift their allegiance to Hillary Clinton this fall. On Tuesday, temporary DNC Chair Donna Brazille announced that CEO Amy Dacey, CFO Brad Marshall, and Communications Director Luis Miranda would be joining the disgraced Debbie Wasserman Schultz in the unemployment line. The resignations stem from the leaked DNC emails that showed how astoundingly and openly biased the organization was against the rogue Vermont senator.
“It might may no difference, but for KY and WVA can we get someone to ask his belief. Does he believe in a God,” mused Marshall in one of the shocking emails, allegedly referencing Sanders. “He had skated on saying he has a Jewish heritage. I think I read he is an atheist. This could make several points difference with my peeps. My Southern Baptist peeps would draw a big difference between a Jew and an atheist.”
To this, Dacey wrote, “AMEN!”
Unfortunately for them, they may be heading into a game of whack-a-mole they can’t win; WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has said that there are still more emails to come, and it remains to be seen which DNC officials will be destroyed by their own indiscretions when those emails are published.
Other emails exposed the DNC’s participation in a pay-for-play scheme as committee members promised big donors political appointments in exchange for their generosity. This kind of arrangement is hardly new in the world of D.C. politics, but it certainly looks bad in a year where Americans are fed up with the relentless cronyism ruining the middle class. And it doesn’t really jibe with Hillary Clinton’s vow to get money out of politics and overturn the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision. The Democrats want to pretend they are the party of democracy, but these emails prove they are even worse than Republicans when it comes to corruption.
Of course, all of this is oddly absent from the mainstream media. They’re too busy talking about Donald Trump’s feud with the Khan family to worry about anything so insignificant as the blatant corruption of a major political party. They may also be hesitant to even use the word “email” too often, for fear of reminding viewers that Hillary Clinton should – according to the law of the land – be facing prosecution for her mishandling of classified information.
