Dominoes Falling: Another Democrat Nailed With Sexual Harassment Allegations
Democrats may soon rue the day they decided to jump on the #metoo bandwagon with such careless abandon. So certain they were that they could use this “moment” in American history (a moment, lest we forget, that began with prominent Democrat donor Harvey Weinstein) that they forgot one little thing: That their party is filled with enough perverts and deviants to keep the accusation train rolling for a very long time.
Now don’t get us wrong: We fully support efforts to bring sexual predators into the spotlight where they can be stripped down and revealed as the scumbags they are. But it’s highly amusing to see the Democrats – so loud and proud last week when they were going after Roy Moore – suddenly realize that they’ve got more skeletons in their closet than a high school biology classroom.
First it was Al Franken.
Then Democrats (suddenly!) remembered they had a Bill Clinton problem and went about the arduous process of bashing him retrospectively.
Now it’s Michigan Rep. John Conyers, the longest-serving congressman in the House of Representatives.
Thanks to some above-average reporting from Buzzfeed, we’ve learned that Conyers was accused of firing an employee several years ago because she did not “succumb to his sexual advances.” And while Conyers proclaims his innocence in the matter, the fact remains that there was a settlement. Additionally, Buzzfeed uncovered documents showing that several of Conyers’ former staffers have accused the 88-year-old congressman of asking them for sexual favors and getting quite hands-y with them against their consent.
The woman who says she was fired due to rejecting Conyers’ advances says she had to accept the settlement because she couldn’t get any other work in Washington. “I was basically blackballed. There was nowhere I could go,” she told Buzzfeed.
As was hilariously pointed out by Paul Bedard of the Washington Examiner, Conyers was praised only a couple of months ago by “Mad” Maxine Waters herself as a reliable champion for women.
“You know, there is a member of Congress who has been supportive of women for many, many, many years,” she said at a Sojourner Truth Luncheon in Detroit. “He is quiet, he is confident, he is powerful, but he has impeccable integrity on all of our issues. Give John Conyers a big round of applause.”
Yes, yes, “impeccable integrity.” Just like Waters has “undeniable intelligence.”
Let’s see what the complaints against Conyers have to say about this man’s impeccable integrity:
“In her complaint, the former employee said Conyers repeatedly asked her for sexual favors and often asked her to join him in a hotel room. On one occasion, she alleges that Conyers asked her to work out of his room for the evening, but when she arrived the congressman started talking about his sexual desires,” BuzzFeed reported. “She alleged he then told her she needed to ‘touch it,’ in reference to his penis, or find him a woman who would meet his sexual demands.”
How heartwarming! What a fine, upstanding feminist ally! Where would women be today were it not for men like John Conyers?
Oh, Democrats, you’ve really opened a can of worms now. We’re going to enjoy watching you eat every last one of them.
