Forbes: Blame “Toxic Masculinity” for Climate Change

Climate change has occurred because we’re revving our way through too many fossil fuels. Climate change is getting worse because we’re taking too long in the shower and leaving the faucet on while we brush our teeth. No, no, steak and McDonalds hamburgers are leading to climate change because cows are farting and sending too much carbon into the air. No, it’s deforestation. No, it’s the Trump administration.

“Climate change” was a transparent attempt to make capitalism responsible for all the ills of the planet – up to an including the heat-death of Earth – from the moment Al Gore debuted his documentary in 2006. But in 2019, the left isn’t even trying to hide that fact anymore. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal was only partially about climate change at all. A good portion of that absurd legislation was geared towards “racial, economic, and reproductive justice.” And the same SJW spirit is alive in Carolyn Centeno Milton’s new Forbes article, entitled: “What if Toxic Masculinity is the Reason for Climate Change?”

In the article, which reports on the research of Dr. Aaron Brough of Utah State University, the case is made that men are less likely to embrace “green” solutions that help the planet because they view those solutions as feminine in nature.

When a person walks out of the grocery store holding an eco-friendly canvas bag instead of a plastic bag, what gender do you think they are? Most likely, your unconscious bias answers that they are female. This is the type of answer Dr. Aaron Brough of Utah State University is trying to get to the bottom of through his research.

Brough co-authored a paper with professors from four other universities to understand how gender norms affect sustainable decision making. They report data from seven experiments that included over 2,000 participants from the US and China. What they found was remarkable.

They found that both men and women associated doing something good for the environment with being “more feminine.” And when men’s gender identity was threatened, they tried to reassert their masculinity through environmentally damaging choices. The report states that “men may be motivated to avoid or even oppose green behaviors in order to safeguard their gender identity.”

And just like that, the left has another reason to go to war with traditional concepts of masculinity. And believe us, they had plenty of reasons already. They’ve blamed everything from school shootings to campus rapes to Hillary Clinton’s 2016 loss on this so-called “toxic masculinity.” Now they’ve decided to go whole hog and blame the entire impending, imminent destruction of the planet on men and their outmoded ideas about gender.

“The future is female,” Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand said earlier this year.

She meant it quite a bit more literally than you think.
