Fox News Moved To Sabotage Trump
(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – Fox News’ legal defense tried a new approach to how they were handling the defamation lawsuit they were facing from Dominion Voting System. The night before the trial they asked the judge to consider additional documents and information in which they blamed former President Donald Trump.
Fox was facing a $1.6 billion defamation suit brought forth by Dominion over their coverage of the 2020 presidential election and its aftermath. Dominion accused Fox News of having perpetuated the claims about the election being stolen and the widespread voter fraud despite privately not supporting those views. In the lawsuit, they argued that many of the top hosts and on-air personalities of the network deliberately misled their audiences by promoting Trump’s claims of election fraud.
Dominion has also argued that the network’s executives were deliberately choosing to undermine the company in an effort to continue appealing to their conservative base by boosting Trump’s unfounded claims that the election had been “rigged.”
Fox News had previously tried to downplay the role of its executive leadership in this case, however now they later switched the focus and attempted to blame Trump. Fox News’ attorneys filed documents calling for the judge overseeing the case to allow them to introduce additional evidence that shows that the company’s allegedly defamatory claims stemmed from Trump’s rhetoric about Dominion and its involvement in the presidential election.
Their efforts appear to have been in vain, though. On Tuesday, April 18th, Fox and Dominion agreed to a $787.5 million settlement. The CEO of Dominion, John Poulos, claims Fox admitted to lying about the company. Fox officials acknowledged the settlement and previous court rulings, claiming their agreement represents their commitment to maintaining high standards of journalism.
