Graham Opens PANDORA’S BOX – Instant Controversy!
(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) took to Twitter to joke about how former President Trump should “smash some windows, rob a few shops, and punch a cop” while heading to the Manhattan district attorney’s office so that he could avoid prosecution.
Graham, the senior Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee and a strong ally of Trump, made the sarcastic comment as a way of targeting Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s (D) reputation as a soft on crime prosecutor who has a record for not going hard when it comes to convicting felonies. In fact, Bragg has fewer felony convictions than the former DA.
In his tweet, Graham began by asking how it would be possible for Trump to avoid prosecution. He then proceeded to state that he would just need to commit some felonies, and then Bragg’s would release him “IMMEDIATELY!”
Bragg first took office in 2021 after winning the election, and during his time in office, the New York Post has pointed out that Bragg has downgraded 52 percent of felony cases in his jurisdiction to misdemeanors. This is a significantly higher number than that of former Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr.
The post also showed that Bragg’s office had only succeeded with convictions being filed in 51 percent of felony cases, which is far lower than the 68 percent Vance had in 2019. Bragg has also been heavily criticized for a memo from January in which he instructed prosecutors to only consider a prison sentence when looking at some of the most serious crimes.
