Hollywood to Hold its Own Pathetic State of the Union
Oh, Hollywood liberals: Never change. Never stop thinking that due to the fact that you happen to have a certain amount of talent in a field that gives you an oversized public soapbox that you have somehow been gifted with a greater sense of what this country needs than, say, the local barber or the janitor at the nearest elementary school. Never stop thinking that because the American public is (bizarrely) interested in how you look coming out of a gym with no makeup on, it means they’re just as interested in your political musings. No, really, it’s great. Keep it up, please.
The latest absurdity from the land of the absurd will take place on Monday, when People Magazine will host a streaming show called the “People’s State of the Union.” People, in this case, being the name of the sponsor – not to be confused with a “populist” state of the union. For that, you’ll have to tune into the real one, given by the President of the United States.
But who wants to watch that when you can listen to political luminaries like Michael Moore, Whoopi Goldberg, and Mark Ruffalo pontificate about what we need as a nation? Why, who isn’t raring to hear another pathetic anti-Trump rant from the behemoth gasbag Moore? Who wasn’t enthralled by his latest Moveon.org letter, where he again informed his fellow socialists that Trump posed a threat to all of democracy?
“Donald J. Trump has proven himself to be completely unfit for office, a threat to our country, and an imminent danger to the world,” wrote Moore. “He is not well; he is a malignant narcissist and an active sociopath. And because he holds the codes to fire nuclear weapons, he is a singular threat to humanity.”
Keep in mind that Moore spent eight years saying the same thing about George W. Bush. Oh, but now he REALLY means it, guys.
Did we mention that Wanda Sykes and Rosie Perez will be attending the People’s State of the Union? Yeah, they’re bringing out the heavy hitters.
Ruffalo said that the event was important “because we have a president who has a difficult time with the truth, who has a radical, divisive agenda, and spends an enormous amount of time focusing on the negative and hopelessness and despair.”
That’s not what Ruffalo and his fellow Hollywood stars have been doing? That’s not what Michael Moore is doing when he pictures the world going up in nuclear fire, thanks to Trump? Come on, are we really supposed to take this seriously?
