House Republicans STAND FIRM – Promise Made!

(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) has said that during the meeting with President Biden regarding the debt limit, Medicare and Social Security were not up for discussion.

McCarthy has said that the Republicans were looking for spending to be reduced before agreeing to raise the debt limit. However, the GOP has not yet been willing to disclose which areas they would like to see spending reduced. While many had speculated that it would be Medicare and Social Security that would be reduced, McCarthy has said that those two are not up for discussion.

During an interview on CBS’s “Face the Nation” on Sunday, McCarthy said that everything but Social Security and Medicare was on the table for discussion. He added that even defense spending might be up for debate, but that they want to ensure that defense spending is used efficiently and effectively.

However, not everyone in the Republican party agrees with this statement, with many saying that defense spending should not be reduced. However, for McCarthy to win the Speakership he had to make concessions with many of the Republican holdouts, one of which was rolling back defense spending.

McCarthy has maintained that it was important for the budget to be balanced and to ensure that there was no waste in defense funding.

The White House has noted that they were not willing to discuss any spending cuts with the Republicans. However, McCarthy is hopeful that Biden will make concessions. He added that Biden would most likely want to agree with what his staff is saying.
