How Hillary Clinton Kept Contractors Quiet About Benghazi Security Lapses
According to contractors who spoke to Fox News, the Hillary Clinton State Department was so eager to keep the security lapses at the Benghazi compound under wraps that they pressured workers to stay far away from the media. In the report, Brad Owens and Jerry Torres of Torres Advanced Enterprise Solutions said that State Department bureaucrats told them to keep quiet following the terrorist attack that took the lives of four Americans in 2012.
Torres Solutions is a private firm that works with the U.S. government to provide extra security at embassies around the world. They were brought into Libya only two weeks before the attack because State Department officials realized at the last minute that there was a serious security problem at the compound.
In speaking to Tucker Carlson, both Torres and Owens said they were surprised and disappointed that no one in the State Department had actually lost their job over the mess in Benghazi.
“A U.S. ambassador is dead and nobody is held accountable for it,” said Torres. “And three guys all died trying to defend him.”
Owens agreed. “The ones who made the poor choices were more responsible for the Benghazi attacks than anyone else – they’re still in the same positions, making security choices for our embassies overseas now.”
One official in particular struck the duo as poorly placed to make security decisions – State Department contracting officer Jan Visintainer. She was the one who initially passed on Torres Solution’s bid, instead hiring an inexperienced UK company that was clearly in over its head. After getting a cable from the ambassador in Benghazi, the State Department came back to Torres and asked them to take over the detail. But, say Torres and Owens, by then it was too late to change the situation. Twelve days after they took over security – well before they had a chance to put all of their men and all of their strategic plans in place – Islamic militants launched their now-infamous attack on the compound.
“There was nothing we could’ve done about it,” said Owens. “If we’d had one month warning, who knows what might’ve happened.”
What was especially disturbing to the pair, however, was how the Obama administration attempted to cover up the truth about the attack.
“Visintainer said that I and people from Torres should not speak to the media – should not speak to any officials with respect to the Benghazi program,” said Torres.
The lengths to which the Obama White House and the Clinton State Department went to cover their own asses…it defies the very notion of patriotism. And the fact that Obama won the next election and that Hillary came anywhere near winning the one after that will forever be a black mark on our nation’s political history.
