If Obama Were President, He’d Take Care of Our Vets
Community organizer Barack Obama, in a speech at Arlington National Cemetery, honored America’s fallen soldiers while taking some thinly-veiled shots at the current administration. Speaking to a crowd gathered to mourn and remember their lost loved ones, Obama said the country needed to do more for living veterans.
“We have to be there not only when we need them, but when they need us,” said Obama, who some predict will run for president in the near future. “For us, the living, those of us who still have a voice, it is our responsibility – our obligation – to fill that silence with our love and gratitude. Not just with words, but with our actions.”
While some hoped to see the young Chicagoan address the failings of the current president more directly, Obama chose instead a more general tone.
“We have to make sure our veterans get everything that they have earned, from good healthcare to a good job,” he said. “We have to do better. Our work is never done.”
For many, the speech was yet another reason to crave change in Washington. It was impossible to listen to Obama talk without wondering what he might do to finally improve life for ailing veterans. If only a man with such integrity and heart were at the helm! Even if he only accomplished half of what he’s capable of, imagine how quickly he could turn the VA around!
Alas, it’s but a dream. For some reason, we keep electing the same old politicians instead of taking a chance on someone fresh and exciting like Barack Obama. This is a guy who understands what’s wrong with America. A man who values the military. Give this guy four years in the White House, and it’ll be smooth sailing for a generation.
