(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – The Crossroads Hotel in Newburgh, New York, has kicked out a 30-day wedding party in favor of accommodating asylum seekers.
Deanna Mifsud, 35, stated in an interview with the New York Post that they felt “discarded” to have been kicked out in favor of the hotel making extra money. The Florida couple had planned an upstate wedding in June and were planning on having 160 guests attend. The groom, Gary Moretti, revealed that they had a legal agreement for those rooms in order to ensure that everyone would be safe.
Apart from the couple, their wedding party, including 10 bridesmaids and five groomsmen, as well as many of their guests from California, Florida, Arizona, Minnesota, Connecticut, New Jersey, Long Island, and Westchester, were going to be staying at the hotel.
Mifsud told the Post that they had not even been informed about the cancellation and that they had spent 45-plus minutes on the phone with the hotel only to be told that there was nothing that could be done about the canceled rooms.
Migrant hotels are going to be compensated $190 per night as part of New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ sanctuary city policy. Mifsud argued that the additional money is the only reason that the hotels are housing the migrants and that it has nothing to do with kindness.
The couple has stated that it is “complete chaos.”
A different couple from Queens has also had 37 rooms canceled at the Crossroads Hotel for their May 20 wedding. In an interview with CBS, they noted that they felt “cast aside.”
