Liberal Media REALLY Gets Freaked Out By Right-Wing Protesters
On Wednesday, we saw what were, off the top of our memory, some of the very few right-wing protests of the year. There was that pro-gun rally in Virginia at the top of the year, right? And then there were the anti-lockdown protests in Michigan and elsewhere this spring. And now there are these peaceful protesters who want to make sure Democrats aren’t trying to steal this election. We’re sure we’ve missed a handful of Proud Boys/Patriot Prayer demonstrations, but when you really talk about massive gatherings, that just about does it.
For some reason, we cannot remember any of these protests ending with buildings burning, cops going to the hospital, innocent people getting “milkshaked” with wet concrete, or the looting of stores. Like we said, maybe we’re forgetting something, but yeah…it’s not coming to mind.
Funny, then, that every time more than three or four right-wing individuals gather in a group, the liberals in the media have a complete freakout. These liberals, who like to use words like “peaceful” to describe scenes that resemble Vikings ransacking an ancient village when it’s their side involved, can find a new level of hysteria when conservatives so much as pick up a picket sign.
Just look at the way Rachel Maddow and correspondent Gadi Schwartz reacted on Wednesday when a couple hundred Trump supporters gathered outside the elections building in Maricopa County, Arizona.
“It might be kind of hard to see just because we’re not turning on our lights,” said Schwartz, on the ground in Arizona and clearly projecting an aura of terror. “We don’t want to be a distraction out here and there are a lot of people that are very — or they have their emotions running extremely high.”
You’ve watched the networks cover the BLM riots in Minneapolis, Atlanta, New York, Kenosha, and elsewhere. Do you ever remember any of these reporters express this level of concern for their own safety?
Hilariously, Schwartz moved closer to the protesters with trepidation, as if they were standing there with blood-soaked machetes. In reality? They were kneeling in prayer.
Though we’re not surprised that this would have confused and disturbed an NBC reporter.
“This is an open-carry state,” Schwartz said in tones of impending doom.
He then explained, however: “And we don’t see any of that. So there are no people with guns that are out on display. We have seen a couple of people with bulletproof vests, tactical vests up at the front of that crowd. But so far, it’s a boisterous crowd. They’re very aggressive. They’ve got bullhorns and they will let you know exactly how they feel. They think that this election has been stolen by — stolen from the president.”
Dear heavens. Bullhorns? Boisterousness? WHITE PEOPLE?
That Schwartz and Maddow were even brave enough to bring us this report is a testament to their combined steeliness.
“Gadi Schwartz, incredibly reporting.” Maddow said at the end of the segment. “And thank you so much for doing that walk with your crew and thank you to your crew as well. I know you’re in a sometimes what’s a really uncomfortable position out there with those people being aggro with you. Please stay safe and thank you for doing this work for us tonight. It’s just incredibly, incredibly invaluable.”
Well, it’s incredible. We’ll agree with you there.
