Liberal Newspaper Urges Hillary to Drop Clinton Foundation
The editors of the Boston Globe took a brief hiatus from criticizing Donald Trump this week to urge the chosen one to distance herself from her controversial charity. In an editorial published Tuesday, the Globe editorial board said that the Clinton Foundation is “clearly a liability for Hillary Clinton as she seeks the presidency.”
“The inherent conflict of interest was obvious when Hillary Clinton became secretary of state in 2009,” write the editors. “She promised to maintain a separation between her official work and the foundation, but recently released emails written by staffers during her State Department tenure make clear that the supposed partition was far from impregnable. That was bad enough at State; if the Clinton Foundation continues to cash checks from foreign governments and other individuals seeking to ingratiate themselves with a President Hillary Clinton, it would be unacceptable.”
It would be unacceptable? Would be? The Globe’s editorial board all but admits that Secretary Clinton stepped over a clear ethical boundary while serving in the Obama administration, but they’re just going to gloss over that and say, “Oh, you rascally scoundrel – you’d better not do that as president, or you’re gonna get it, you naughty girl.”
In fact, they clearly feel guilty about even bringing it up; much of the editorial is concerned with conveying to readers what a wonderful force for good the Clinton Foundation has been. In making their case, they assure the Clintons that their charity will live on.
“If the foundation’s donors are truly motivated by altruism, and not by the lure of access to the Clintons, then surely they can find other ways to support the foundation’s charitable goals,” they write.
That’s hardly going to move Hillary Clinton, since she knows that access and influence were all the Clinton Foundation’s largest donors ever cared about. It’s just her Wall Street speeches in another form. This couple’s entire existence has been about the pursuit of ultimate power, or at least the illusion of it. Because, after all, by the time Hillary steps into the Oval Office, she will be little more than a puppet enslaved by a thousand little strings.
But those same strings jerk the liberal media, including the Boston Globe. The truth about Hillary Clinton’s unethical pursuit of the presidency cannot be ignored, but her defenders are busy minimizing the damage in every way possible. Our only hope is that the shining, ahem, spotlight of Donald Trump will render this elitist charade powerless before it’s too late.
