Liberals Demand Mass Flag Change!

(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – A local Massachusetts organization is looking to change the state’s flag, stating that the imagery is offensive to indigenous people.

According to Change the Mass Flag, the organization calling for change, the imagery which depicts a white hand with a Colonial sword being held “over the head of an Indigenous person” with a Latin motto that stands for “She Seeks by the Sword a Quiet Peace under Liberty” is widely considered to be a depiction of the colonization of the state and a message of violence against Indigenous people.

The Newburyport City Council last month got a resolution calling for council members to support the Special Commission Relative to the Seal and Motto of the Commonwealth. Previously the commission had voted in favor of the state flag changing in a 9-2 vote.

This resolution comes one year after the Massachusetts State Legislature decided to vote to have a commission formed that would review the state flag.

Massachusetts State Representative Nika Elugardo in a tweet in 2021, pointed out that native leaders have been calling for a change in the state flag and seal for over 35 years and that it was time to “answer the call of our generation.”

Two Newburyport residents in an interview with the Newburyport Daily News commented about how many other local communities in the state were also considering this resolution.

David Detmold, the coordinator of the Change the Mass Flag organization also pointed out that the requests to have the state flag changed started around 4 decades ago.
