Lindsey Graham: FBI Used Different Standards for Trump, Hillary

In an interview with Fox News’s Maria Bartiromo, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said Sunday that the FBI did not apply the same standard of justice to their investigation of Hillary Clinton as they did in their probe of the Trump campaign in 2016. Graham, who seemingly has a standing invitation to appear on “Sunday Morning Futures” every weekend, told Bartiromo that recently declassified documents show how the FBI treated the two suspects in a much different way.

“In March of 2015 the FBI finds out about a plot by a foreign government to lobby the campaign and funnel millions of dollars into the Clinton campaign illegally,” he noted. “They open up an investigation, they want a FISA warrant against a Clinton operative connected to the foreign government. What happens? The FBI’s [leadership] says ‘we’re not going to let you get a warrant until you brief the Clinton campaign’ and in October of 2015, FBI personnel met with the Clinton campaign to tell her about the problem so she could fix it and they never issued the FISA warrant.”

Graham said this was in line with proper FBI protocol.

“That was the right way to do business,” he said.

But this was not the way the FBI handled their investigation of the Trump campaign.

“Four counter intelligence investigations opened by the FBI against the Trump campaign,” he observed. “They never tell him about it so he can fix it. They never told Trump ‘oh, by the way, you’ve got a Carter Page problem, you’ve got a George Papadopoulos problem.’ As a matter of fact not only did they not tell Trump, they used a generic briefing to spy on Trump.”

Graham said that the nature of modern day geopolitics means that we have to get used to foreign governments trying to meddling in our elections.

“We need to have tools to find out about that and when you find out about a foreign government trying to influence a campaign, you need to protect the campaign, not spy on it,” Graham said. “They did it right for Clinton, they used the counter intelligence investigation to spy on Trump. That is a double standard. That is political bias. I cannot tell you how inappropriate it is to do what they did to Trump. They never told him about the problem, they used the problem as a way to spy on him.”

Yep. And if it weren’t for their ability to turn “Trump/Russia” into a way to discredit the election and keep the president tied up in investigations for three years, we would have barely heard about this Russian interference in the first place. It was just a pretext all along. Nothing more.
