Major CHANGE Coming To This Red State!
(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – On Thursday, the Texas Senate approved a bill that would ban countywide voting on Election Day. This is part of a greater move towards tightening election laws in Republican states.
Senate Bill 990, which passed along party lines, mandates that people will need to vote at their assigned precinct on Election Day instead of being able to vote at countywide voting centers. The county polling sites would also remain open during the early voting period. The bill is now moving through the House, where an identical bill has been sent to the Elections Committee.
State Sen. Bob Hall, a Republican who introduced the legislation, stated that this bill would help increase election security while blocking people from potentially voting in multiple different locations. However, opponents of this law have pointed out that the secretary of state has debunked all accusations of voter fraud. The bill would effectively make it harder for people in sprawling counties to find a location to vote.
Sen. Carol Alvarado, a Democrat, has claimed that “there’s no basis, there’s no proof, there’s no evidence that someone has voted in more than one location” and argued that Hall has made a “very weak case” about why this bill was required. Hall, however, has argued that this bill is focused on security and not convenience. He further noted that this bill would increase accessibility as everyone would be required to vote at “one location in their neighborhood.”
