Media Falls Prey to (Yet Another) Racial Hate Hoax
When the liberals in the mainstream media heard this tale, they couldn’t resist. A story of racially-motivated hatred coming from a private Christian school? Oh, they were all over it like white on rice. Wait, wait, wait: AND it involves boys terrorizing a black girl? Sexism and racism, all in one shot? Oh, please tell us the boys were wearing MAGA hats!! You don’t need to? Why? OMG, Mike Pence’s WIFE works for the school? Please, no more. We can’t take it. Get the smelling salts.
But like most of these sensationalized tales of woe involving racial attacks, this one turned out to be a complete fabrication. You’d think by now that reporters in the media would be a little more skeptical when some yahoo actor claims to have been attacked by MAGA thugs or that someone drew swastikas all over the local mosque, but they just keep falling for it again and again. They did so here, coming to us hat-in-hand on Monday to admit their mistake.
“The sixth-grade girl at a private Virginia school who accused three classmates last week of forcibly cutting her hair now says the allegations were false, according to statements from the girl’s family and the principal at Immanuel Christian School in Springfield. School officials met with the girl and her family Monday morning before releasing the statement,” reported the Washington Post. “The 12-year-old, who is African American, said three white male students held her down in a school playground a week ago during recess, covered her mouth, called her insulting names and used scissors to cut her hair.”
The girl’s grandparents issued a statement of apology.
“To those young boys and their parents, we sincerely apologize for the pain and anxiety these allegations have caused,” they wrote. “To the administrators and families of Immanuel Christian School, we are sorry for the damage this incident has done to trust within the school family and the undue scorn it has brought to the school. To the broader community, who rallied in such passionate support for our daughter, we apologize for betraying your trust.”
We’ll let the good folks at Immanuel Christian School deal with the ramifications of this particular incident. We’re more concerned about the way the media continues to jump at these (inevitably) fake stories like Charlie Brown chasing that elusive football. How many times can you be fooled? What’s really diabolical is that, by running these fraudulent hoaxes in your paper for days on end (and then spending 1.2 seconds on the “oops, sorry, that was fake news” part), you create this world for your readers that there are hate crimes happening on a daily basis in every part of the country.
Not that you mind perpetuating THAT narrative, now do you?
Oh, and it was also disgusting how you tried to make this one about Karen Pence, who just happens to work at the school, as if she was somehow the fourth attacker – holding the scissors, perhaps! We’d tell you to do better next time, but we know you won’t be able to. You just can’t help yourselves.
