MSNBC Cannot “in Good Conscience” Show Trump Attacking the Bidens
In what can only serve as a warning as to how the liberal news media is going to cover the 2020 general election next year, MSNBC’s Chuck Todd told viewers that his “Meet the Press” program could not, “in good conscience,” expose viewers to the horrifying sight of…President Donald Trump speaking ill of Democratic frontrunner Joe Biden. Apparently determined to solidify the media’s reputation as a microphone for the Democratic Party, Todd made it crystal clear who MSNBC and “Meet the Press” was cheering for to win the election.
“Trump held a campaign rally in Minnesota last night,” Todd said. “There are parts of it we can’t show you — or, rather — there are parts of it that we’re not going to show you. The president went further than he’s ever gone before. So we are going further than we’ve ever gone before to say we aren’t going to play the sound. We aren’t going to repeat the president’s vicious attacks on Hunter Biden.
“The president of the United States stood in front of a crowd of supporters and character assassinated a man — whatever you might think of his decisions — he’s not a public figure, he isn’t running for office, and he’s not a campaign surrogate,” Todd continued. “He’s not even on the campaign trail. And he isn’t, in any way, asking for this attention, obviously.
“We can’t in good conscience amplify those attacks, so we won’t. We will simply tell you that it happened, and it seemed to cross a line. Another line. Politics ain’t beanbag, but it isn’t supposed to be this either. We all need to play a role not rewarding this kind of politics. Not just the press, this is the job of anyone who has sworn an oath to defend the Constitution,” the pious one concluded.
DID Chuck Todd “swear an oath to defend the Constitution”? How, exactly, does protecting Hunter Biden fit into that calculation? To us, it sounds less like defending the Constitution and more like defending the likely 2020 nominee. But you do you, Chuck.
By the way, what was deemed so unfit for the MSNBC airwaves? Was it Trump telling the truth about Hunter’s dubious $1.5 billion investment fund in China? Was it Trump mentioning Hunter’s outlandish job with Burisma Holdings in Ukraine? Was it Trump’s discussion of Biden’s cocaine use in the Navy? Under normal circumstances, we might agree that these things should be off-limits. But since the Democrats are trying to impeach Trump for getting to the bottom of Vice President Joe Biden’s involvement in his son’s international scams, we’d say they are very much on the table.
“Hunter,” Trump said at one point, “you know nothing about energy, you know nothing about China, you know nothing about anything, frankly. Hunter, you’re a loser.”
Same goes for you, Chuck.
