NYC Storing Illegals Where?
(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – On Saturday New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced that a cruise ship terminal will be turned into a shelter and services hub to be used to accommodate asylum seekers.
The Brooklyn Cruise Terminal is going to be used to provide room, board, and medical care for 1,000 single men who have arrived in the city seeking asylum. Currently, those who will be moved to the Terminal temporary shelter are at a relief center at a hotel. The relief center hotel is going to now be used for families with children who are seeking asylum.
Adams has repeatedly said that New York City has reached the limit of its resources and has argued that both state and federal assistance was needed in order to handle the influx of immigrants. New York City has been in a state of emergency since the fall.
Many of the migrants have reached New York through the busing operations set up by border states. In the past week, Adams also traveled to El Paso, Texas to assess the border situation. Since last spring over 41,000 asylum-seekers have reached New York City and have sought housing and food while there. The city has had to resort to using 77 hotels in order to set up enough emergency shelters to accommodate incoming migrants. The terminal is going to be the fifth “Humanitarian Emergency Response and Relief” center in the city.
Previous attempts for the creation of temporary accommodation have received a mixed reception. One of the plans included putting a hangar-sized tent in a beach parking lot, but concerns about possible storm flooding led to the plan not proceeding.
