Pelosi: Republicans “Trying to Get Away With Murder of George Floyd”

In an astoundingly irresponsible attack on her political opponents Tuesday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told CBS News Radio that Republicans are “trying to get away with murder, actually – the murder of George Floyd.” Apparently having forgotten that Floyd was killed by police in a city that wouldn’t recognize Republican leadership if it grew in the Minneapolis community garden, Pelosi argued that the GOP-controlled Senate’s police reform legislation doesn’t go nearly far enough towards solving the problem of law enforcement racism and brutality.

“For something to happen, they’re going to have to face the realities of police brutalities, the realities of the need for justice in policing, and the recognition that there’s many good people in law enforcement, but not all. And that we have to address those concerns,” she said. “So, when they admit that, and have some suggestions that are worthy of consideration — but so far they were trying to get away with murder, actually — the murder of George Floyd.”

Pelosi’s outlandish statement brought harsh condemnation from across the aisle.

“That’s gotta be the most outrageous thing she’s said in at least a few weeks,” said Mark Whitlock, an adviser for the National Republican Senatorial Committee. “Genuinely shocked the Speaker didn’t get any pushback after that line as well.”

No, of course she didn’t. The interviewer didn’t even pause to grunt. He just let Pelosi rant on about defunding the cops.

“I think people mean different things,” Pelosi said. “Of course, public safety is our first responsibility. We have to keep the American people safe; but we want to do it in a way that keeps everyone safe. And there are many ways to do that. Does it mean police officers should be social workers? Does it mean they should be referees in family disputes, and the rest? No, maybe we can distribute some resources in a way that really meet the safety needs of the American people.”

Ridiculous. Defunding the police means defunding the police. And you can bet your bottom dollar that they mean defund the police. They mean abolish the police. All this nicey-nice talk about putting more money into education and social programs is just BS to help the medicine go down. There’s not a single activist in the Black Lives Matter organization that wants to “reform” the police. They want them gone, replaced by community sentinels like the ones that roam downtown Seattle with AR-15s on their shoulders.

Democrats like Pelosi are telling you, point blank, that they aren’t going to stop BLM and the anarchists in the streets. Indeed, they’re going to bend over backwards to legitimize their largely-mythical complaints about American society. God help this nation if there’s a blue wave in November. It may just push us over the brink.
