Expect the Presidency of Donald J. Trump to look a lot different for the next two years than it did for the first two. To the dismay of Democrats from sea to shining sea (and very few places in between), the embattled, besieged, victimized Trump of the first two years is now gone. Thanks to the conclusions of the Mueller report, our president is no longer held captive and shackled by the cloud of the Great Russian Conspiracy. He is free. He is unrestrained. And he is ready to exercise his newfound power.
Within less than a day of the Mueller report dropping, two big things happened in Trump World. One, the Justice Department concluded that the Affordable Care Act was, in its current state, against the law, and officially recommended its abolition for the first time. Two, the Pentagon notified Congress that they would be transferring the first $1 billion to the border so that President Trump could begin building a wall.
Democrats are, of course, mortified at these developments.
“We strongly object to both the substance of the funding transfer, and to the Department implementing the transfer without seeking the approval of the congressional defense committees and in violation of provisions in the defense appropriation itself,” a bunch of aggrieved Democrat senators wrote in a letter to the Pentagon. “As a result, we have serious concerns that the Department has allowed political interference and pet projects to come ahead of many near-term, critical readiness issues facing our military.”
Yes, you’re hearing that right. All of a sudden the Democratic Party is deeply concerned that the U.S. military budget will not stretch far enough to handle this additional expenditure. Trump has turned a lot of things upside down just by coming on the scene, but this has to be the wackiest of them so far. Who knew Democrats were so worried about the Pentagon running out of money? Who knew they gave a damn about military readiness? It’s remarkable.
We have a feeling that Trump has been playing softball with these idiots for the last couple of years. Now that the Mueller Report is out, he’s done with all that. It’s full MAGA from here on out, Democrat-controlled Congress or no Democrat-controlled Congress. They are going to wish they’d taken the time to reach across the aisle when he gave them the chance.
