Republican EXPOSES Democrats For Targeting Seniors!
(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – In a new bill, Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) announced plans on Friday to increase funding for Social Security and Medicare. The new bill would also put more limitations on how cuts to entitlement programs could be made.
The new bill was announced after President Biden during the State of the Union address accused some Republicans of wanting to sunset the two entitlement programs. Scott in a press release said that he had always fought for these two programs as they can be very important for Florida’s seniors. He added that the “Protect Our Seniors Act” is going to help further safeguard these entitlement programs.
The legislation speculated that the $80 billion in funding that the Inflation Reduction Act had directed to the Internal Revenue Service would be redirected to Social Security and Medicare. Many Republicans have attacked the decision to increase the IRS’ funding, noting that the funding would only be used to form an “army of 87,000 IRS agents.”
As part of the bill, any future cuts to Social Security or Medicare would have to gain the approval of two-thirds of Congress. It would also stop Medicare savings from being redirected and spent on other initiatives.
This new proposal does not necessarily align with Scott’s 11-point plan which has been heavily criticized by Biden and the Democrats for calling for the sunsetting of all federal legislation after five years.
