(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – On Thursday, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) suggested that he was the only Republican who would be able to defeat President Biden in 2024.

DeSantis, during a phone call for donors hosted by Never Back Down, the pro-DeSantis Super PAC, stated that at this point there are only three credible people to be considered in the race: former President Donald Trump, Vice President Joe Biden, and himself. DeSantis has not yet launched an official presidential bid.

According to the New York Times report of the phone call, DeSantis proceeded to state that out of those three, only two of them had a chance at being elected to two offices, and those two were Biden and himself. He added that based on what the evidence in swing states points to, former President Trump has an insurmountable block to move over as most people are not going to be changing their opinion of him.

DeSantis is expected to be preparing to file paperwork with the Federal Election Commission declaring his candidacy on May 25. On that same day, he also has a scheduled meeting with donors in Miami.

While Trump is currently considered the frontrunner in the 2024 GOP primary, DeSantis is considered to be his biggest possible competition, despite the fact that he is now more than 30 points behind him, according to a polling average from FiveThirtyEight.

A recent Morning Consult poll also found that both Trump and DeSantis were behind Biden in a hypothetical matchup, with Trump losing by 3 points and DeSantis by 2.
