Republicans To Install Cameras On House Floor?
(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., has introduced a new amendment to the House rules which could allow C-SPAN cameras to be on the floor during the House’s normal operations. As the amendment speculates the Speaker of the House would be the one to allow for the broadcast of the House proceedings.
Geatz told Fox News Digital that his amendment is essentially a response to all his constituents who had expressed a genuine interest in being able to see what the government was doing in real-time. As he noted they wanted to be able to see the government in action, as well as to see how alliances were formed.
The Speaker would need to allow at least four cameras operated by C-SPAN to broadcast and record the House proceedings at any given time.
Especially in the week that led to Kevin McCarthy officially winning the Speakership many people called for the C-SPAN to be permanently adopted and allowed to roam the House floor in the way that they had done during the votes. The cameras are normally fixed in specific locations and the House Recording Studio fully controls the recording.
Gaetz also noted that he had talked to many lawmakers and all of them appeared to believe that adding more transparency to the House proceedings could only bring positive things.
He added that people are also keen on observing the way the two parties and their leadership communicate while on the floor.
