Rob Reiner Reminds Us That Enforcing Immigration Law is Racist
In an interview on MSNBC’s AM Joy this weekend, actor and director Rob Reiner appeared with his wife, Michele, to blast President Donald Trump and his supporters for the current immigration situation. In the interview, Reiner said that there was no reason to enforce U.S. immigration law with zero-tolerance policies unless you were trying to reach out and engender political support from your nation of racist followers.
“Let’s cut to the chase — this is about racism,” Reiner said. “This is pure and simple racism — that’s all this is. He’s hoping that the people who support him will be ginned up and running to the polls to make sure that brown people don’t come into America. That’s exactly what’s going on here.”
It doesn’t particularly surprise us to see Reiner or any other liberal making this kind of argument – it is, after all, the argument hiding between the lines in every one of these sad-sack pleas for a return to the failed “catch and release” policies that got us in this mess to begin with. Trump’s haters have been calling him and his supporters racist from the moment the billionaire announced his campaign with blunt truths about illegal immigrants.
This is, indeed, the left’s go-to argument when it comes to any policy or rhetoric that targets – even tangentially or accidentally – a minority of any kind. Law and order policies? Racist. Transgender military ban? Transphobic. Supreme Court decision on Christian bakery? Homophobic. Anti-abortion? Sexist. The list goes on and on. Liberals are the moral arbiters when it comes to every single issue in America; when you disagree, you automatically fall into some form of “phobic” or “ist” category. You are a bigot.
Of course, it’s really easy for these rich Hollywood types to go to the border and cry their crocodile tears and call all of Trump’s supporters racist for wanting to enforce the law. Reiner, after all, doesn’t have to worry about an illegal immigrant stealing his next directing gig, now does he? And speaking of brown people, how many of them live in Reiner’s neighborhood? These people feel very comfortable sitting in their ivory towers with their sky-high security gates and their millions of dollars, passing judgment on all the lowlife, middle-class Trump supporters and all of their silly fears about the future of the country.
Apparently not satisfied that her husband had disgraced the family enough already, Michele Reiner then made this asinine comment: “I have to tell you, my mother was in Auschwitz. She got separated from her entire family — lost her entire family. I never thought I would live to see something like that, particularly in this country, ever again in my lifetime.”
Well, these idiots still haven’t realized that THIS kind of rhetoric is exactly what allowed Trump to defeat Hillary Clinton in the first place. This over-the-top, everyone-conservative-is-evil kind of talk is what has divided this country right down the middle. Liberals have made it abundantly clear: If you aren’t with us, you’re some kind of bigoted deplorable who should be consigned to the dustbin of history.
And then they wonder why we thought we might be better off with The Donald.
