Roger Stone Says Cabinet Members are Actively Plotting Against Trump
In an interview with the Associated Press on C-SPAN, Roger Stone, a former adviser to Donald Trump, said that several members of the president’s Cabinet have held active discussions about removing him from office. The Cabinet members, whose identities Stone declined to reveal, have apparently been tossing around the idea of using the 25th Amendment to knock Trump out of the presidency and install Vice President Mike Pence in his place.
“Do you have any evidence that anyone is actively plotting or attempting or laying the groundwork right now inside the Cabinet – inside the administration – to make that removal?” asked reporter Tom LoBianco.
“I have sources, and I work my sources, and yes, I believe there are some who have had this discussion,” Stone said. “This is both outside the Cabinet and in. I think it’s the fallback plan for the establishment. That’s why I’m trying to sound the clarion call.”
The reporter pressed Stone to reveal specifics, but the controversial political gamesman said he could not go into further detail.
“Like you, Tom, I cannot reveal these sources and I’m not prepared to do so, but this is not a conspiracy theory,” he said. “There are members of the Cabinet who have had this discussion. Let me just leave it at that.”
Stone said that the Washington establishment was losing faith in Robert Mueller’s ability to close the deal on the Russian investigation and they know that there is not enough political willpower among Republicans to pull off a successful impeachment. Therefore, those in power are beginning to look at alternative ways to give Trump the boot.
“You’re going to see an enormous uptick in these irresponsible stories smearing this president as, you know, non compos mentis — not up to the job, and so on — particularly if Mr. Mueller should shoot and miss. So I’m being realistic about what I believe is the resolve of many in the political establishment to remove the president under any means necessary,” Stone said.
Stone conceded that President Trump’s agenda has been far too successful and popular in recent weeks for the establishment to pull off such a coup, but he warned the president’s supporters not to get complacent. He said that if the media could provoke public hysteria using a number of He’s unfit stories, the “two party duopoly” could see their golden chance to send Trump back to New York City without so much as a parting gift.
We’ll see.
It’s hard to imagine the kind of fake news that would quell a mass uprising in the event of such a blatant overthrow of democracy, but this media has certainly proven themselves capable of any amount of deception. We doubt Washington would dare to attempt this kind of play…but as Stone said, we should be wary. We wouldn’t put anything past these cretins.
