“Squeezed Out”: Former CNN Commentators Say Network Hates Conservatives
A group of former CNN commentators who used to bring a conservative viewpoint to the cable news network told Mediaite this week that they were forced out of their jobs by executives that absolutely hate anyone who won’t carry the “anti-Trump” water.
“Most of us got squeezed out involuntarily,” said former Georgia congressman Jack Kingston. “I was there for two years and was certainly willing to continue. It was clear to me in the end that the Republicans they prefer are anti-Trump Republicans.”
While the network used to employ quite a few pro-Trump contributors, those days seem to be rapidly coming to an end. Over the past few months and years, contributors like Ken Cuccinelli, Stephen Moore, Ed Martin, Jeffrey Lord, Andrew Bauer, and Paris Denard have been let go from CNN. Some went on to hold positions in the Trump administration; others found themselves shut out of televised political commentary altogether. Likewise, former Trump campaign officials like Corey Lewandowski and Jason Miller only worked at the network for a short time before being given the ax.
“Who are the Republicans, John Kasich? He hates Trump!” Moore said, speaking of the conservatives who now serve as political commentators on the network. “CNN is the ‘hate Trump’ network. They just trash Trump every single hour of every single day. All they’ve talked about for two years is the Mueller report and how bad does it make them look now that it proved nothing.”
“CNN used to pretend it accepted right-wing voices for balance, but now it openly despises conservatives who are pro-Trump,” said former CNN contributor Buck Sexton. “Today the entire enterprise clings to a fundamental dishonesty: that it has no political agenda. Taking down Trump is obviously the agenda. And in this regard, some of CNN’s ‘hard news’ anchors are the biggest journalistic frauds of all.”
None of this is news to anyone who has been paying attention to CNN’s decline over the past couple of years. The release of the Mueller report was the final nail in the coffin. It has been losing regularly to Fox and MSNBC, but in the weeks since their Russian collusion narrative went up in smoke, the network loses big time to channels like HGTV and The Food Network. There may be no coming back from the brink.
Frankly, we can’t say we have much sympathy.
