(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – Texas Governor Greg Abbott has stated that “every state is a border state” and is asking for additional resources to be sent to the southern border. In a letter sent to U.S. governors, Abbot slams President Joe Biden for allowing Title 42 to expire and proceeds to claim that all states need to come together in order to fight the border crisis created by Biden.

Title 42 expired last Thursday after first being enacted during the Trump administration. The public health order was first put in place at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and was meant to allow border officials to easily expel migrants without having to go through the normal asylum process. Originally, this order was meant to help curb the rate of infection during the early days of the pandemic.

Many have been worried about what would ensue at the border following the end of the border. Many had also claimed that there would be a surge in immigration, pushing the resources at the U.S.-Mexico border even further.

However, on Sunday, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas revealed that the surge they were expecting to see in migration following the policy’s expiration did not occur and that on Friday, the number of encounters had dropped to approximately 6,300, while those on Friday had dropped to 4,200. On the days prior to the expiration of the health order, the number of encounters had increased to more than 10,000 per day.

In his letter sent on Tuesday, Abbott pushed for other governors to help reduce the number of “illegal crossings and criminal activity.” He proceeded to call for states to collaborate through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact, which is normally used for states to share resources during a time of natural disaster or emergency.
