Supreme Court Hands Over Major Win To Liberals
(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – On Wednesday the Supreme Court declined to have parts of New York’s new gun control blocked until the legal challenge moves along. Previously a lower court had paused some portions of the law after the Supreme Court’s landmark gun ruling in June which allowed handguns to be carried outside of one’s home. However, the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals rescinded that decision and allowed the law to continue to be enforced while legal proceedings were continuing.
The group then turned to the Supreme Court in order to change the Circuit Court’s decision. However, on Wednesday the Justices declined that request. Justice Samuel Alito, along with Justice Clarence Thomas in a statement wrote that this case did not have merits.
Alito also noted that the applicants should again seek relief from the Second Circuit if needed. They also encouraged them to ask the Second Circuit for explanations regarding this decision.
Last year the Supreme Court in New York State Rifle and Pistol Association v. Bruen decided that New York’s requirement for concealed carry permit applicants to show “proper cause,” was unconstitutional and went against the nation’s traditions.
Following that decision, New York passed a new law, the Concealed Carry Improvement Act, which required applicants to provide access to their social media accounts, and contact information for their families and to show “good moral character.”
The group originally challenged the law and a federal district judge ruled that those portions of the law were unconstitutional because of the Bruen ruling.
