Suspected Chinese Spy Balloon SHOT down by US Military
(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – The Chinese balloon that was first spotted flying over the U.S. on Thursday was shot down by a U.S. missile on Saturday off the coast of South Carolina. According to the Pentagon, the balloon was used for surveillance and spying by the Chinese government. The Chinese government however has maintained that the balloon was used for weather measurements and it simply had drifted off its course. The balloon was brought down at 2:28 after it passed Myrtle Beach.
A video of the shot was captured, clearly showing the balloon popping and falling down from the sky. This is part of the Biden administration’s plan to have the remnants of the balloon recovered from the Atlantic Ocean in order to determine what kind of surveillance the balloon was used for.
Officials did not provide great detail into the case yet but had said that President Joe Biden had agreed with the plan. In a press briefing on Saturday President Biden had also told reporters that they would “take care of it” when asked about the balloon.
Before the balloon was shot down, mariners in the area were advised by the Coast Guard to leave the area because of the U.S. military operation which could lead to “a significant hazard.”
Previously the Pentagon had speculated that the balloon was the size of three school buses and that shooting it down would cause significant debris. The location of the Atlantic would allow them to retrieve a large part of the remnants of the balloon.
