If President Trump’s plan on Saturday was to engineer a scenario in which Democrats and their puppets in the media would spend the week defending Iran, he couldn’t have constructed a better tweet than the one he sent.
Let’s make sure we get the full context:
“Iran is talking very boldly about targeting certain USA assets as revenge for our ridding the world of their terrorist leader who had just killed an American, & badly wounded many others, not to mention all of the people he had killed over his lifetime, including recently hundreds of Iranian protesters,” Trump wrote. “He was already attacking our Embassy, and preparing for additional hits in other locations. Iran has been nothing but problems for many years.
“Let this serve as a WARNING that if Iran strikes any Americans, or American assets, we have targeted 52 Iranian sites (representing the 52 American hostages taken by Iran many years ago), some at a very high level & important to Iran & the Iranian culture, and those targets, and Iran itself, WILL BE HIT VERY FAST AND VERY HARD. The USA wants no more threats!” he concluded.
Cue the hysteria.
“This is a war crime,” shrieked Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. “Threatening to target and kill innocent families, women and children – which is what you’re doing by targeting cultural sites – does not make you a ‘tough guy.’ It does not make you ‘strategic.’ It makes you a monster.”
Not sure how AOC got “innocent families, women, and children” out of “important to Iran & the Iranian culture” but we’re used to her making absurd statements that bear little or no resemblance to reality. Remember when she cried over a parking lot?
“The President of the United States is threatening to commit war crimes on Twitter,” tweeted AOC’s buddy, Ilhan Omar. “God help us all!”
Do you think Omar had to go back and edit “God” in for “Allah,” or do you think she has a program on her phone that does it automatically?
AOC and Omar were far from the only Democrats who were suddenly very, very concerned about Iranian culture but who do not seem to be even slightly concerned with the atrocities carried out by Iran under the command of Mr. Soleimani. And although we find it doubtful that Trump or the U.S. military will be dropping bombs on the Great Mosque of Iranian Faith or whatever kind of “culture sites” everyone is worried about, if the U.S. DID happen to knock a few down, we’re kind of in agreement with Fox News’s Peter Hegseth.
“I don’t care about Iranian cultural sites,” said Hegseth on Monday, “and I’ll tell you why. If they could, if Iran could, if you understand the Islamic Republic of Iran, if they could, if they had the power, they would, they would destroy every single one of our cultural sites and build a mosque on top of it.”
We’re sure AOC and Omar would be very upset about that if it happened.
Well, “sure” is a strong word…
