Transgender Traitor Runs for Senate Seat in Maryland
Gee, remember a few months ago when the entire left was horrified about the lows to which the Republican Party had sunk due to the fact that Roy Moore was running for the Alabama Senate seat? Even though most of the party’s upper echelon denounced Moore, the Democrats and the media hade it their job to paint the entire conservative movement as fraudulent, simply because this one guy happened to have been accused of some sexual misconduct. That’s not any attempt on our part to go back and pretend like the Moore debacle was a great thing for the Republican Party or the Trump administration, but it’s simply a reminder. A reminder, since, after all, the Democrats may soon have similar trouble brewing in their own backyard.
Chelsea Manning, of course, isn’t accused of scoping out teenage girls at the local mall. But the former U.S. Army private was tried and convicted of leaking more than 750,000 classified documents to Wikileaks in 2010 – the largest such leak in American history.
Chelsea, who used to go by the gender of male and the name of Bradley, said later that she was angry at the military for their unfair treatment of LGBT soldiers. She was ultimately sentenced to 35 years in prison, and immediately became a darling of the far left, which championed her for both her treason and her decision to suddenly “change sexes” while in prison. President Obama, ever the guardian of our national security, commuted her sentence as one of his final acts as president. She was released last spring.
And now she’s running for the Senate!
Naturally, Manning will be running as a Democrat, where she hopes to primary Sen. Ben Cardin, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. She filed the paperwork on January 11 but has yet to make any public statement about her intention to run.
Considering Cardin’s entrenched status in the party, it’s unlikely that a convicted traitor like Manning will pose much of a threat. Then again, in the post-Trump world, it’s hard to rule anything out entirely. One thing is for sure; it is to the Republican Party’s great benefit if Manning does somehow defeat Cardin in the primaries. It may not be a great thing for the country to have a treasonous transgender sitting in the Senate, but it will effectively strip away any pretension of the moral high ground from any Democrat.
Of course, we would have thought the same about Hillary Clinton’s crimes. It’s quite amazing when and where the Democrats are willing to turn a blind eye to misconduct, even when our national security is on the line. Quite amazing, indeed.
