Trump: Democrats Are Only #Resisting the Will of the Voters
In his weekly address on Saturday, President Trump mocked the #Resistance against his election with some of his most forceful denunciations yet of the obstructionists in the Democratic Party. Trump said that Democrats were responsible for standing in the way of his judicial and executive branch nominees, bringing his agenda to a crawl, and thwarting the desire of the American people they were elected to serve.
“Senate Democrats call it ‘The Resistance,’” Trump sneered. “From day one, Senate Democrats have shamelessly obstructed, stalled, and filibustered the confirmations of hundreds of talented men and women who are eager to come to Washington, D.C. to make a difference. They want to serve our country.”
Trump said that by grinding the gears of legislation to a halt, the Democrats were “resisting the will of the American voter.”
Trump said Democrats are also to blame for Congress’ failure to come together on an immigration plan. He said that Chuck Schumer and other party leaders oppose his demands because they are “afraid it’s going to make me and the Republicans look good.”
“They have blocked every effort to close deadly loopholes, to keep out vicious criminals, and to stop the flow of illegal immigrants and drugs,” he said. “They are a disaster at the border. These actions are endangering our citizens, threatening our communities, and undermining our national security.”
If Republicans could take this exact message and run on it in every state, we would have a really good shot at keeping control of the House this November. Unfortunately, there are too many lunkheads in the party who blindly believe that Republican voters would rather save DACA than build a wall. Too many idiots who think they can skate to victory by kowtowing to their corporate sponsors – bigtime donors who would love nothing more than to keep a steady flow of cheap immigrant labor flowing into this country. Too many people who are so entranced with their own moral high ground that they refuse to support this president and his agenda in such a way that they can inspire Americans to get out and vote. It’s a sad situation, and it could be one that lets the Democrats in through the backdoor.
It should not be controversial to run on a platform of securing the border and enforcing the law. That Democrats can obstruct the very SECURITY OF OUR NATION and still have a good shot at winning the midterms is a pathetic statement on the current state of the GOP. We surely hope it doesn’t play out that way in November, because our country deserves so much better.
