Trump Finally Bans CNN’s Clown Prince From the White House
Wednesday afternoon, President Donald Trump finally had enough of the insufferable antics displayed daily by CNN’s clown prince of journalism, Jim Acosta. Trump’s disgust with Acosta reached the breaking point when the reporter* asked a meaningless, propaganda-driven question about the campaign ad showing illegal immigrants acting like violent hooligans. Trump advised Acosta to let him run the country and worry about CNN and its low ratings. That should have ended it, but Acosta – never one to easily cede the spotlight – kept pushing his luck, even violently yanking the microphone back from a female staffer who was trying to keep the press conference moving along.
Trump’s ire boiled over. He told Acosta he was a “rude, terrible person” who should not be employed by CNN. This led NBC’s Peter Alexander to lamely stick up for Acosta, to which Trump replied, “Yeah, well I’m not such a big fan of yours, either.”
Later, when Acosta tried to come back to the White House to do an 8:00 PM stand-up for CNN, he was informed by Secret Service that his pass has been canceled and that he was no longer permitted on the premises.
Love it!
While the banishment of Jim Acosta has been a long time coming, it naturally afforded CNN yet another chance to play the martyr and pretend that Acosta’s suspension has some relevance to the state of press freedom in this country.
Acosta’s suspension “was done in retaliation for his challenging questions at today’s press conference,” said the network in a statement. “In an explanation, Press Secretary Sarah Sanders lied. She provided fraudulent accusations and cited an incident that never happened. This unprecedented decision is a threat to our democracy and the country deserves better.”
No, Jim Acosta is a threat to our democracy with his unserious, WWE-style reporting, and our country certainly deserves better. Day after day, Acosta goes to the White House with one mission and one mission only: Make such a spectacle of himself that he gets to be in the headlines. And over and over again, it works. Have you noticed that he’s the only one who does this? There are plenty of virulently anti-Trump reporters in that press pool, but whenever you hear of a reporter acting an absolute fool, it is always this guy. He doesn’t want to uncover the news, he wants to BE the news.
In one sense, we regret that Trump has given Acosta exactly what he most wanted. In another, this was an entirely appropriate course of action that should have been implemented months ago.
