Trump to Biden: Come Get Some, Tough Guy
Former Vice President Joe Biden once again inhabited his “tough guy” persona this week, telling a crowd in Miami that he would have enjoyed whupping up on Donald Trump had they known each other in their younger days.
“A guy who ended up becoming our national leader said, ‘I can grab a woman anywhere and she likes it,’” Biden said at a rally against sexual assault. “They asked me if I’d like to debate this gentleman, and I said no. I said if we were in high school, I’d take him behind the gym and beat the hell out of him.”
This is not the first time Biden has suggested he would enjoy going mano a mano with the President of the United States. He first said back during the campaign that he would like to “take Trump behind the gym” for his Access Hollywood remarks.
Even as a president with a lot on his plate, Trump was not about to let this go by without notice. He tweeted Wednesday that if Biden felt froggy, he should go ahead and jump.
“Crazy Joe Biden is trying to act like a tough guy,” Trump wrote. “Actually, he is weak, both mentally and physically, and yet he threatens me, for the second time, with physical assault. He doesn’t know me, but he would go down fast and hard, crying all the way. Don’t threaten people Joe!”
Beyond the pure silliness of these two 70+ year-old men talking about beating each other up, we have to wonder what the hell Biden is thinking when he makes these remarks. Is he just saying whatever comes to mind? Does he think there’s some faction of the namby-pamby modern left that wants to celebrate this sort of machismo? Has he not been paying attention to the direction of his own party for the last, oh, thirty years? Particularly the last five? If he’s planning to run for president, he’d better dispense with the tough talk and start getting comfortable with his transgender side. That’s the Democratic Party of 2018.
Of course, the other interesting thing about this is how the left responds to Joe’s absurd threats. If this were a Republican, we would have to read many solemn accounts of how radicalized the right has become and how a major figure in GOP politics is trying to “normalize” high school violence. But since it’s good ol’ Uncle Joe, it’s fine. After all, who WOULDN’T want to kick Trump’s ass? We love it!
And then, the moment Trump throws it back, they’re all, “This is beneath the dignity blah blah blah…”
They’re just so damned predictable and phony.
