Under Muslim Mayor, London’s Murder Rate Has Skyrocketed

What happens when you elect a mayor who is not only a liberal but a Muslim who is sympathetic to migrants, soft on crime, and easily influenced by the propaganda of political Islam? Well, the answer is revealing itself across the Pond. Mayor Sadiq Khan has only been in office for a couple of years and he has somehow allowed the murder rate in London to climb higher than the rates seen in New York City. As has been noted by several news outlets, this is the first time that’s happened since the year 1800.

In both February and March, London beat out NYC’s murder count. In February, it was 15 to 14. In March, it was 22 to 21.

There is not, of course, merely one factor to blame for the hike in crime, but you can put at least some of it down to Mayor Khan’s decision to have police officers stop their stop and frisk policies. Fearful of raising complaints among ethnic minorities, Khan has gone a similar route as New York City itself, preferring to pacify the politically correct leftists in his voting base than keep the city safe from crime.

Last year, Khan made the bold assertion that London is “the safest global city in the world,” but that claim is getting harder and harder to defend. Not only has the city opened its gates to Islamic terrorists returning from the ISIS battlefield, not only is their murder rate climbing, their rates of other violent crimes such as rape and burglary are well ahead of New York City as well. The city has also become known for a horrifying spate of random acid attacks.

London authorities and liberals have gone to great lengths, of course, to pretend that London’s recent crime hike has nothing to do with an influx of migrants from Northern Africa and the Middle East. In comments to the Evening Standard, Jacob Whittingham of the charity Fight for Peace said the really frightening part of the crime wave was that…there WAS no explanation.

“What’s scary about London is the randomness of the crime,” he said. “With young people in London, you have no idea if and when you may be the victim of a violent crime – that’s why they feel the need to carry weapons.”

And Met Commissioner Cressida Dick, far from mentioning the changing cultural and religious landscape of London, said he believed that social media and YouTube had something to do with the recent stabbings.

When you decide that one thing – in this case, Muslim immigration – cannot and will not be pinpointed as the cause of the problem, and that just happens to be the VERY cause of the problem, you wind up with absurd statements such as these. It’s sad to see this once-great, once-safe city go to ruins, but it serves as yet another lesson in the perils of liberalism. Maybe one of these days, humanity will wake up and learn.
