Worst U.S. Senator CHOSEN – The People Have Spoken!
(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – A new Morning Consult poll showed that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is the least popular senator in the U.S. He is the only lawmaker in the upper chamber to have a disapproval rating of more than 60 percent within his home state.
The survey found that McConnell’s current disapproval rating was 64 percent, with his approval rating at 28 percent. He was followed in unpopularity by Sens. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) with 55 percent, Susan Collins (R-Maine) with 53 percent, and Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) with 52 percent. These four were also the only senators to have a disapproval rating above 50 percent.
McConnell, who is currently 81 years old, is not up for reelection until 2026, as he won his seventh term in office in 2020. However, despite the fact that he appears to be unpopular in the polls, the GOP leader managed to win in his state against Democrat Amy McGrath, a retired Marine, by nearly 20 points in 2020.
Among the most popular senators with an approval rating of 60 percent or more was Sen. Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii), who had the highest approval rating of 65 percent, followed by Sens. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), John Thune (R-S.D.), Peter Welch (D-Vt.), Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.), Mike Rounds (R-S.D.), and Mazie Hirono (D-Hawai).
With the 2024 general election fast approaching, the approval ratings for some of those senators who are in vulnerable seats could end up being detrimental. According to the survey, some vulnerable senators are also believed to be in a less vulnerable position because of their approval ratings.
